Jad Jawad's Challenge - Fondation du CHUM

My name is Jad Jawad. I’m 32 years old and I’m a patient at the CHUM. In September 2020, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s mediastinal lymphoma.

Thanks to my proactive and efficient family physician, I was quickly taken into the care of the oncology team at the Centre Intégré de Cancérologie du CHUM (CICC). In all, I had 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 20 radiation treatments. I received outstanding care at the CHUM from all the people who work in the oncology and radiation departments.

The support and encouragement of my family and friends was just as important to me in this battle. I will forever be grateful to each and every one of you.

Since July 2021, I’ve been in remission. When I was diagnosed, I made a lot of changes in my lifestyle, especially my diet and level of physical activity. Running soon became my way to stay active and clear my head.

Then I decided to contribute to the CHUM and CICC foundations by taking part in the Generations Challenge. I signed up for the Montreal Marathon on September 24, 2023. My goal was to raise $100 for every kilometre I ran, for a total of $4,200 (42 x 100). But 48 hours after signing up for the Challenge, I had already reached and surpassed by goal. So, I decided to raise the bar to $10,000.

I’d like to dedicate this Challenge to all the people who are battling cancer right now, to those who have won the fight, to the families and friends who support us during these difficult times and, especially, to all the people who work in oncology.

I’d like to say thank you in advance to all the people who would like to encourage me by making a contribution to the CHUM Foundation. Your donation can make a difference in a patient’s life.
